The lack of detail in the background really makes the cats stand out. You can really catch the feeling of grief with the tears and all the blood. The scene is extremely sad, you have really managed to catch their expressions, this made my cry for a very long time...
You could maybe do Sandstorm when Firestar dies some other time, I think you'd be really good at that.

I thought the tears and the blood had a good effect and the shading was good the forest in the background was a little bit sad compared to the rest and lacked detail unlike the cats but it still it was a amazing piece and i love the way you used a sad scene and really pushed emotion into it.
I suggest doing moss kits death because it is yet another sad scene and you would do it very well.
