Lynxtail's hunt

Lynxtail stretched in her spot where she had been keeping vigil that night. She had just become a warrior and was finally out of the medicine cat's den, she had lost her tail fighting a wolf with her mentor during her assessment. She had been resting in that den for almost a whole moon! She was finally happy to go out and about. Instead of going to the warrior's den to sleep off the night's vigil she ran outside the camp to hunt. Lynxtail didn't know how well her hunting will go, seen as this was only her 1st time out of camp since the attack. As she ran she was wobbly but soon became more confident and ran straighter. She spotted a squirrel nibbling on a birch nut three tail lengths away and got into a hunters crouch. She waited and pounced. Unfortunately her pounce was majorly dis coordinated and she landed a foot away from the squirrel who ran up the tree in a fright. "Mouse dung!" she cursed and sat down. "How am i gunna be any use to the clan if I can't hunt?" She muttered to herself. She sighed and looked around. She saw a little brown hare on the hill near by sitting and eating flowers. She slunk down into her crouch and edged toward the rabbit, when she was a taillength away she bolted towards the hare and jumped, claws sheathed. Lynxtail felt her claws sink into fur and smiled largely and went in for the finishing kill. "I did it!" She bounced happily, tripping unevenly. "haha! I can still hunt!" She smiled widely Just a little more practice and i'll be as good as any warrior! tail or no tail! she picked up her kill and ran wobbly to her home.
