|| Appearance ||

Summary - Curlcall is a tall lithe black and white tom. His muzzel and chest are a light, almost white, gray. His long fur is covered in curls and cowlicks, making grooming quite the task. His nose is a grayish pink color while the inside of his ears and his paw pads are a light silver gray. His eyes are two different colors, one being a baby yellow and the other a dull cornflower blue. On his neck are three scars.

Fur - Curlcall gets his name from his curly fur. The fur along his body is covered in curls and cowlicks and almost whisp out messily when he walks. The majority of his fur is an almost jet black color, save for the light gray blotch of fr on his muzzel and chest. The fur on his head sticks upward almost comically (he is unable to keep it down).

Body type / size - Curlcall is quite taller than most warriors his age. What he makes up in height he does not make up for in the muscle department. His upper body strength is sorely lacking compared to the strength in his hind legs. Some cats will comment on his strong hind legs saying, "You should have been born in Windclan or Riverclan with legs like those!"

Eyes - Curlcall is special, his eyes are two different colors. The eye on his right is a baby yellow while the eye on his right is cornflower blue. Not many cats within the clans are blessed with dual colored eyes like his. He shares this similarity with his clan leader who, too, has multi colored eyes.

Due to his battle with Cricketleap, Curlcall has been unable to open his yellow eye. This may just be because it is healing and Curlcall hopes that he hasn't lost the ability to see (let alone open) his eye.
:new: His eye has now reopened.

Scars and blemishes - On his neck are 3 claw shaped scars. He acquired those scars in a one sided fight against a rouge by the name of Kore.
Recently, Curlcall had aquired many new scars with his battle with Cricketleap at the Sky Walk. There are 3 scars going through his yellow eye, which is now closed shut until further notice, four scars on his left cheek, a number of jagged scars on his chest and four very long scars on his belly that reach from his underside to the side of his ribs. The last of his scars lies in his ear; a huge notch was torn from the top of his right ear.

{{ WIP }}

| Timid | Thinker/thoughtful | Comforter | Nervous | Friendly | Not quick to trust | Loyal |

Timid | "I-I'll just be o-over here.. N-not being a b-bother.." | Curlcall is the epitome of timidness and often tries to refrain from confrontation of any sort. He likes to keep to himself and becomes easily frightened and nervous when confronted.

Thinker/thoughtful | "I-if we pause and think about our options I'm sure we can find a solution to this" | Curlcall is a big thinker. He often overthinks things sometimes, over analyzing or thinking of how things could go right or wrong.

Comforter | "C-come here. I'll listen" | Curlcall will always be there to offer his words of advice or an ear to listen to the problems of others.

Nervous | "O-oh I uh didn't s-see you there" | Curlcall is a nervous Nancy all right. He's gotten much better with controlling his nerves since he was an apprentice but he is still easily frightened. His nervousness causes him to often take on a stutter, which will hinder his speech until he's done his breathing exercises to calm himself down.

Friendly | "H-hello there.. I'm Curlcall and y-you are?" | Once Curlcall is comfortable around someone he is actually quite kind. He's soft spoken and gentle and is often found wearing a small smile. At gatherings he'll introduce himself to other cats but will make sure to keep them at a tail-lengths distance.

:new: Not quick to trust | "How c-can we trust them?" | Ever since the unjust attack from Shadowclan on Skyclan, Curlcall has found it much harder to trust cats. It's caused him to become more distant and nervous around new cats and less likely to open up. Now,  instead of trusting on sight like he had done as a young apprentice, the other cats must gain his trust and friendship.

Loyal | "S-Skyclan is the only clan for me. I'll defend it with my l-life!" | Curlcall is imensely loyal to Skyclan and has been since he was but a tiny kit. Although he's made multiple friends outside of Skyclan, he never let that get in the way of his loyalty to his clan (as most prominently seen in the Sky VS Shadow fight). The only time his loyalty truly wavered was when Lotuspool had become a rouge after leaving Skyclan and the two had met many a time before she finally returned to Skyclan.

Fun Facts:
:bulletblack: Curlcall is deathly afraid of trees. He can go near them but the thought of climbing them will make him freak out and stutter.
:bulletblack: Although Curlcall fears trees, he doesn't fear heights.
:bulletblack: Curlcall has a stutter and can't control it if he is startled or confronted out of the blue.
:bulletblack: Curlcall does small breathing exercises when he needs to calm down. You'll sometimes find him doing this in the middle of daily things, he'll even do this during conversations if he has to to stop himself from stuttering.
:bulletblack: Curlcall, due to a fight with Kore, now has 3 scars on his neck. This is quite signifigant because whenever he looks at them or feels them he just thinks of how cowardly he acted in the heat of battle.
:bulletblack: Curlcall has, as of late, become more distant and closed off due to the large amount of cats that he knew died. He's now apprehensive to make new friends, in fear that they too would leave him.
:bulletblack: Curlcall is afraid of abandonment, whether it be a cat leaving him or a cat dying.
:bulletblack: Curlcall is intimidated by Reedstar and feels as though he chose the wrong cat to be his prophet. He's afraid that he might mess up and doom his clan.

|| History ||

Born an orphan -

Curlcall’s history begins with two seasoned warriors of Skyclan; Clawtail and Tinycloud. The two met and became friends well after both of their apprenticeships, Clawtail becoming entranced by the young beauty that was Tinycloud. It took many moons before, to Clawtail’s excitement and dismay, Tinycloud confessed first. Two seasons later the couple was expecting their first litter. Clawtail spent those few moons in anticipation and worry but Tinycloud managed to keep him calm and cool through it all. When the day finally came for Tinycloud to give birth, Clawtail, determined to give his mate some needed space and a hearty meal, left camp on a hunting patrol. Once out of camp and into the lush territory of Skyclan, Clawtail was able to completely let his frazzled nerves free and let out his pent up nervousness. Unfortunately, his outlet for letting off steam was hunting by tree top which in the end led to his untimely death. As he was pouncing for a squirrel the branch he landed on snapped in to causing him to fall to the hard ground below. The fall broke his back killing him instantly. Meanwhile, back in camp Tinycloud was nursing a healthy tom. She was tired and weak from the birth but was determined to stay awake and wait for her mate in order to name their son. Tinycloud waited all afternoon until a warrior entered the nursery with their head bowed and their eyes cast away. They told her the news and her world stopped. Her mate—her best friend—was dead. She looked down at their son and willed all the love she could muster unto him from the both of them. Curlkit became his name for the fur that was as curly and untamable as his father’s. Two weeks past without trouble, Curlkit finally opening his eyes showing off his unique dual colored eyes, until Tinycloud caught a cough. It began as a simple cough until Curlkit couldn’t even go near his mother and the medicine cat forced her to relocate to the medicine cat’s den. Then, as quickly as the cough came, it left and with it so did Curlkit’s mother. Curlkit was now an orphan.

Dropping like flies -

The rest of Curlkit’s kithood blurred by in a juggle of surrogate mothers, each not being able to have him for too long as their own kits passed on to apprenticeship or he became too old to nurse. Finally the day came where Curlkit could leave the nursery for good as Curlpaw. Curlpaw was frightened to leave the nursery. Not only would he be out in the wild, out of the comfort of his neat nest in the safe nursery, but his mentor was a frightening Stagheart. Curlpaw wasn’t used to this amount of change, only ever having to deal with soft mothers and young kits. Luckily for him, Stagheart was a lot nicer than his outer appearance suggested, unluckily though his mentor was short lived. Very early into his apprenticeship his mentor passed away.

Curlpaw began to bounce through warriors as they waited for Cloverstar to choose his new mentor. Two warriors that became close to the skittish apprentice were the deputy Vistagaze and a younger she-cat Thornblade. The two made sure to take Curlpaw with them on hunting and border patrols, critiquing his skills and telling him how to improve. They frightened him greatly with their blunt words and sharp attitudes but Curlpaw couldn’t help but look up to them and feel grateful for their guidance.

A few days before Curlpaw received his second mentor Jackalfang, he met the shy and sweet Lotuspaw. Feeling sympathy for the she-cat and understanding what it was like to be an outcast he offered to share his meal with her. Their friendship only bloomed from there.  Not long after Curlpaw met and befriended the eccentric Fallenpaw. They were often paired together for practices and hunting assignments so they had many chances to get closer. Fallenpaw would often try to bait poor Curlpaw into climbing trees like a true Skyclanner, but Curlpaw couldn’t ever muster enough courage to get over his irrational fear of trees.

It wasn’t long after Curlpaw was given to Jackalfang to train, Vistagaze was killed. It was such a shock to the young apprentice that he paid no attention when another young warrior by the name of Wildstorm filled her spot as deputy. Two warriors, dead, in such a short span of time? It frightened Curlpaw.

Curlpaw got his first scars when he was about 9 moons. All he wanted was to go out and hunt by himself and enjoy quiet relaxation but sadly it didn’t go his way. His hunting expedition turned into a cold stand off between the anxious apprentice and a murder thirsty rouge Kore. Curlpaw had tried his hardest to stay peaceful and passive but Kore continued to push him down harder and harder until he finally struck the poor apprentice giving him his first set of scars.  Kore left feeling bitter and disgusted while Curlpaw left feeling ashamed and pathetic, knowing he should have fought the rouge and not have cowered like he had.

Curlpaw began to think life was looking up; he had made many friends, Thornblade was expecting kits, Skyclan was well fed. But, like most things in his life, it couldn’t last long. The rivers and streams in all the territories began become filled with rotted fish and black muck. The water took the clans by surprise, but the plague and sickness that followed it was what caused the true destruction.  First it hit Thornblade and then his mentor Jackalfang. Fallenpaw was next to go breaking Curlpaw’s resolve little by little.

It wasn’t long after this that Curlpaw met and befriended the motherly Honeypelt.  She had rescued the apprentice from a frightening fox attack only to have been killed by a fall barely a moon later. Everyone around him was truly, dropping like flies.

Becoming the prophet -

Days passed and the sickness in the water continued to danger the clans.  Then, one fateful night, Curlpaw was sent a strange dream of starry cats fighting angrily speaking of prophecies and prophets and the cursed clans. It was when Bramblestar addressed him by name that Curlpaw became truly confused. He was Reedstar’s prophet. Said leader was anything but happy at the thought and made sure to express his fury.

Finding love and family -

Among the negativities that had plagued the young apprentice’s life, there were bout of happiness. The main sources of happiness stemmed from his closet friend Lotuspaw and his newest mentor Cloverstar. Cloverstar was quite different from his previous mentors, making sure that he trained to the bone and improved his skills. She was also the reason for his conquering of his lifelong fear of trees. The Skyclan leader had brought him to hunt in the trees but the poor tom couldn’t make it near the trunk. She then taught him how to use his breathing technique to aid him when climbing trees. It had been one of the best days in his life, seeing the immense look of pride in his mentor’s eyes.

As the days went on, Curlpaw and Lotuspaw became increasingly closer and closer. The curly apprentice began to form strong feelings towards his best friend, not understanding his feelings and treating them as something friends feel.  It wasn’t until a week before their warrior ceremony that Lotuspaw suddenly vanished. She left the clans without so much as a single word, no goodbye. Curlpaw was heart-broken.

Finding the cure -

The full moon after his ceremony, is when Curlcall learned that there were four other prophets such as himself. One from each clan; Autumnwhisper from Thunderclan, Stonefaith from Windclan, Cricketleap from Shadowclan and Echostar from Riverclan. It filled Curlcall with a great sense of relief that there were others like him. That sense of relief left him quickly as another cat appeared. He was a loner who knew where the cure for this plague was found. He convinced the clans to allow the prophets to travel with him to obtain it and rescue their clans.

Being a part of the journey frightened the young warrior. What if he messed up? If he did something wrong and cost the group the only chance at a cure? These thoughts swam through his head constantly until suddenly Reedstar sent him a vision. He was granted a vision of where the herb was and with this knowledge helped the group gather the cure.

Murky waters -

Hoping for some well needed peace and quiet for the first time in nearly a moon, Curlcall finally returned home. He was given an apprentice by the name of Eaglepaw who proved to be a very energetic and excitable apprentice. It was a fantastic learning experience for the warrior and Curlcall made sure to yell extra loud when Eaglepaw earned his new name; Eaglemask.

Shortly after obtaining Eaglepaw as an apprentice, Curlcall quite nearly stumbled into the lovely Lotuspaw—or the Lost Lotus as she was then known. It struck his heart fiercely to see her again. She was ragged and skinnier than when he last saw her but her face still held that beautiful smile he remembered. They struck up a conversation just as if she had never left. They agreed to continue meeting one another. When they met up Curlcall would tell her all about his duties as a warrior, how training Eaglepaw was like or of any interesting happenings that occurred.  Lotus would tell him of her daily tasks of living as a loner and the difficulties that surrounded it. The more they visited each other the closer they become until finally Curlcall stammers out his love for the she-cat. Fortunately she returned his feelings and they became official mates. Wanting her to stay with him, Curlcall managed to convince her to come back to Skyclan.

After Lotus returned to Skyclan, earning her the name Lotuspool, and Curlcall acquired his newest apprentice Galepaw, life in the clans started to become murky. Flooding began to happen all over the clans causing some clans to move from their camps into other clans’ camps.  Efforts were made to quell the flooding, creating dams, but it was all in vain. Soon the dams were destroyed and the waters turned black. It wasn’t until the flood reached its peak that the clan’s finally snapped.

Shadows and floods -

Spirits among the clans were bleak and filled with aggression. Border skirmishes were becoming more often and more violent as tensions rose higher and higher. It wasn’t until one dark night that the tensions finally snapped. In the Skyclan camp cats of all ages were sleeping calmly and comfortably—Skyclan, being high above ground, was not as easily affected by the flooding as the other clans—when suddenly Eaglemask’s alarm shot all around camp. They were being invaded! Cloverstar woke up the warriors and apprentices and sent Eaglemask to scout ahead. Curlcall was shocked and surprised to hear that their clan was under attack. His pride for Eaglemask’s acute hearing and awareness was shortlived as Cloverstar ordered them to move out to the skywalk to bring the battle to them.

The bleary eyed Skyclan warriors were met with the vicious, unjust fangs of the Shadowclan invaders. Cats began to fly all around Curlcall as the fighting broke out. A russet pelt flew past Curlcall’s eyes and he was suddenly filled with pure rage. How could she let her clan go through with this unjust attack? What warranted such a battle? Running on pure anger and adrenaline, the curly furred warrior flung himself at the Shadowclan deputy. The two fought violently, tearing and ripping at eachother’s flesh until all they could see, smell and taste was blood. Fiery pain shot through his face as claws raked down his face, nearly blinding him in his right eye. He retaliated by tearing his claws across Cricketleap’s forehead.

Their battle was cut short as a loud shrill yowl filled the air. Cloverstar was in trouble! Curlcall quickly abandoned his fight with Cricketleap in order to run to his leader’s aid. He was too late though, and all he could do was watch in absolute horror as his leader’s life was taken. He didn’t realize his paws were moving until he felt the cold frigid water seep through his toes as he went to carry Cloverstar out of the water. Her body was cold and covered in blood. Soon Peachbelly was by his side checking  the wound Cloverstar had received. Curlcall felt a cold chill course through his body as he looked up at the Sky Walk, the apprentice who had killed her staring down at them with wide eyes. This was the day Curlcall refused to blindly trust those he met. He had thought Cricketleap was his friend but instead she had helped orchestrate an invasion that killed his leader. He would never forgive them.

Half blinded and broken-hearted -

Life after that seemed to move in a dull blur for Curlcall. This was just like his apprenticeship, everyone dying left and right. He knew Cloverstar had more lives left but it still left him with a feeling of foreboding. Who would be next? Well, that question was answered when he heard the news of his apprentice, Galepaw’s sister’s death. The poor tom was distraught and cold after the vigil. All Curlcall could do was provide him with his comfort and love, offering him his words of wisdom from experience of losing loved ones. It was then that their relationship began to blossom into a more father son relationship rather than a mentor apprentice one.

The flooding continued to threaten the clans to the point that Skyclan was the only clan safe from the black waters. This meant that all the other clans had begun to take residence up in Skyclan’s camp, including Shadowclan. Curlcall was anything but happy about this decision and made it bluntly obvious that he didn’t want them here. How could he trust that they wouldn’t try something funny while they’re here? They could attack the nursery! Or the elders den! They could do something right underneath their noses. It was driving Curlcall insane and it made him start to distant himself from others more so than before. He couldn’t trust them—he wouldn’t trust them.

Days passed by in complete misery for all the clans until one night during a gathering when all hell broke loose—almost literally. It began normally until Cloverstar began to freak out and dashed out of the gathering into the woods. Echostar and Autumnwhisper looked confused and concerned as they asked Curlcall if he had heard anything from Reedstar. He was surprised to hear that they had heard nothing from their leaders as well which led to a collective feeling of dread that washed over the group. Echostar told him to go check on Cloverstar and try and bring her back to the gathering. Curlcall nodded and ran towards the forest and searched for his distressed leader. He found her hunched over and shaking, sprouting nonsense with wide eyes. Curlcall curled around her and tried to talk some sense into her. His comforting words were cut short when all of a sudden he felt like he was being ripped from his own body. He was now an on looker of sorts as whoever had control over his body became accustomed to it. Reedstar! It was his Starclan leader that had a hold of his body! Reedstar scoffed and rhetorically asked him why he was all the way out here when all the interesting stuff was happening in the gathering. He marched over in Curlcall’s body and stormed into the gathering. Apparently he wasn’t the only one being possessed as Cricketleap finished her speal—or was it Ashstar speaking? Reedstar lifted his head and announced to the clans that evil was right beneath their noses and that they should prepare themselves and heed their warning.

A couple nights proceeding the gathering, Wildstorm barged through camp with a call of alarm. He was drenched and wide eyed. Later that night was when he relayed the message that Cloverstar had passed onto Starclan after saving his life. She had drowned. Curlcall was heart-broken and filled with grief. To him Cloverstar was the mother he never had and by far one of his closest of friends. Her death struck him to the very core. That night, after the vigil, Curlcall received a dream from her. They talked all night, saying what they never were able to in life. Just as she was about to leave him for the night, Curlcall requested that she look after the newly named Galefrost for him. He asked her to protect him and lead him on the path of good even when could not.

It wasn’t too late after that that a loner by the name of Moose arrived. He told the clans of a fantastic new territory that they could move to. A wave a doubt and skepticism ran through the clans until one suggested that the prophets go with him to investigate this new territory. Thus began a new chapter for the clans.

Moving forward -

The journey to the new territories was a surprisingly pleasant one. Curlcall made sure to steer clear of the Shadowclan prophet and ended up distancing himself from all the other prophets in the end. The loner, Moose, often conversed with him about all kinds of things; his time as a loner, how he discovered the territories, etc. He was an interesting tom and he and Curlcall soon became friends. Once they arrived at the new territory, all the prophets set out to see which part suited what clan. They easily picked out who would have what part of the territory and even found the camps. They returned to the old territory and led the way to a new start for the clans.

The journey for the rest of the clans wasn't as pleasant as it was for the prophets. Many cats perished during the journey, but morale was still high as a hope for a new start fueled the cats. They were determined for a new, fresh start, away from the plagues and floods that scarred their old home.

Moose joined Skyclan and, surprising the whole clan, became Wildstar's deputy.  It shocked everyone that Wildstar chose a former loner to be his deputy. Galefrost had been quite angry at the news, arguing that Curlcall should have gotten the spot instead. Curlcall didn't mind much that Moosebelly was chosen. He had proven to be a valuable cat during their journey. The tom will just need an extra bout of training in order to get a clear hand of things.

New lands and bittersweet partings -

Life continued on smoothly from then; new leaders and deputies were introduced like Loonstar and his deputy Spidercharm, warriors and apprentices were named and kits were born. The clans were finally happy and healthy. Curlcall often went out on patrols to check out all of what their territory had to offer. He and Galefrost stumbled upon the old water-tower and jokingly thought of a new game for apprentices to play--who can climb the highest? It was peaceful and Curlcall was happy. Life was going good for once. Of course that could only last so long. Galefrost came to him one night and announced to him that he was leaving Skyclan. The news shocked Curlcall into a stunned silence. Galefrost was leaving?! So soon after they had just settled in? Curlcall tried to convince him not to leave, to stay in the safe, comfortable territory of Skyclan, but he could see that his former apprentice was determined to leave. Nothing he could say could keep him here and he knew it. So, Curlcall gave in and the two shared tounges for one (hopefully not) last time. It was sad and bittersweet but the two vowed to meet again one day after Galefrost found himself and did what he needed to do. As much as it hurt his  heart to see him go, Curlcall was proud of him and wished him luck on his journey.

Not too long after Galefrost's departure, Wildstar too left the clan. He stepped down as leader, saying that he was weak and couldn't lead his clan as a good leader would. His brother left after him to try and bring him back. The duo haven't been seen since. Now Skyclan stands leaderless and apprehensive towards its future. But, beneath all of the bad events and negativity, Curlcall was told the greatest news of his life. He was to be a father. Lotuspool came to him with the brightest smile on her face and relayed the news that she was expecting. Curlcall could have (and did, mind you) leapt for joy/ He was going to be a father! He wasn't going to stay alive for these kits. He was going to be there for them and protect them from the harshness of the world. Protect them from death and loneliness like he wished he had been.

Children! And... Murder?

A couple moons after Lotuspool relayed the news of their coming children, Galefrost returned to Skyclan. He was different than before but Curlcall could still see that the great big soft heart that his adopted son had was still there. He was different but not for the worst. He had learned and experienced the outside world and what it had to offer and still returned to his home, Skyclan. Curlcall was excited to speak with him and tell him all about his children that should be born any day now. Galefrost too became excited at the news and together the duo spent that night catching up with one another.

Lotuspool gives birth to two healthy kits, Burrkit and Bumblekit, a girl and a boy. Curlcall couldn't be happier. These were his children, his flesh and blood, and he vowed to protect them with every fiber of his being. He's immensely joyous when they take and immediate liking to Galefrost. Although the silver tom was awkward and shy around the kits, Curlcall could tell he truly loved them and wanted to see them grow up into something grand.

The next few weeks are filled with peace and comfort until one night, Curlcall spies Galefrost leaving his den in the middle of the night. Curious, a slightly concerned, Curlcall follows his former apprentice in his nighttime excursion. He follows him all the way to the Skyclan/Shadowclan border. There, he watches as Galefrost speaks with a Shadowclan warrior--Nettleblood he learns later--and listens as they speak about the Dark Forest. They were planning to go into the Dark Forest to kill their leader! Curlcall couldn't believe what he was hearing! And there was no way he'd let Galefrost go in their by himself and with a Shadowclan warrior at that. Revealing himself, Curlcall told Galefrost that he would go with him and help him. Galefrost refused initially but Curlcall would not be swayed. Together, the three found a hollow to sleep in to enter the Dark Forest. Unbeknownst to them, another Shadowclan warrior by the name of Iceslash had too overheard their plans. He was not happy and not about to let the trio attack his Dark Forest mentor.

The trio slip into a deep sleep only to awaken in the Dark Forest. This was Curlcall's first time entering the wretched place and he hoped it would also be the last. Together the three fought against Millie and Deadglare, and soon Iceslash as well. The battle ended with Galefrost killing Millie and Nettleblood killing Iceslash, Deadglare had gotten away. Galefrost and Curlcall awoke and made their way back to the Skyclan camp as quickly as they could. What they didn't know was that as Nettleblood was returning to Shadowclan's camp, he discovered Iceslash's body and decided to frame the Skyclan duo.

The morning after the events, the two were tired and thoughtful. This wasn't the end of the Dark Forest was it? They had gone out hunting and upon their return they were met with a heart stopping sight. Loonstar, Spidercharm and Nettleblood were waiting for them in Skyclan's camp. They were speaking to Moosebelly and Lunarstar, the clan around them exploding in a flurry of disbelief and denial. They were being acused of Iceslash's murder. Curlcall was shocked and could barely even get a single word out. Murder?! They thought they were the murderers? How could they not tell that the murderer was right there among their party. The one making the accusations was the one who really killed their warrior.

They each gave their sides of the story and both leaders listened but both seemed unconvinced.

Roleplay Example: [Roleplay with streakpie]

Ratpaw never even knew her name? He frowned. No kit should ever loose their mother, ever. This struck a nerve in Iceshadow's protective fluff. "I'm sorry.." Was all he could manage to mutter. "I bet.. I bet if you knew her.. you two would have been close," He tried to comfort, but doubted it would do any good.

He let out another sigh, seems he's been doing that a lot tonight. "Not as close as I would have liked.." He gazed off into the distant, his eyes looking at the dark, shadowy snow covered hills of Windclan, but yet, not looking. They just seemed to stare off into the distance. "I think I made her sad," Iceshadow remembered the day he saw his mother at the gathering, she had looked so sad and downcast.

"well," He started. "I was out patrolling with my father by the Riverclan border when I heard the noise of a cat fighting. I got concerned and went to go and help the cat. My father had refused at first.." He said the last part in a low cold voice. "I crossed the border only to see my mother-- barely landing hits on a savage fox." His eyes widened slightly at the memory. "So I ran to help her.. but her wounds were so deep.. and she had so many.." He trailed off for a moment.

"Then my father came and was attacked.. right in the throat.." He lifted his paw to his throat tentatively. "I couldn't save them both. I tried too; lashing out at the fox with all my might.. but alas it was no use." His eyes clouded. "I ran to my father and as he lay dying he whispered to me, 'You have potential'" His eyes narrowed.

"Then I looked to my mother.. she was gone. And the last thing I said to her was so cold and she was so sad." He breathed a deep breath before finishing his tale. "So, all I could do.. to even honor her memory, was to bring her back to her clan; her home. And tell them of how bravely she fought.. till her last breath.."
